Garden Walk

Mission Hills Garden Club Annual Garden Walk
“A Walk to Remember…Kate Sessions and her Legacy in Bankers’ Hill”

May 8 10-4 pm
Buy tickets on the Garden Club website.

This year’s annual Garden Walk will take on a rather historical flavor. Of course we will have the usual outstanding landscape designs and unusual plants, but we will also be featuring Kate Session’s influential work in the Bankers’ Hill area in the first half of the 20th century. Among other things, Miss Sessions introduced unknown drought tolerant plantings as well as species from other parts of the world to the San Diego community.

A trolley will be available from the nursery to the 12 gardens we will be featuring. Kate’s plantings will be available at the nursery for 20% off and we are offering a free glass of wine to celebrate the nursery’s 100th anniversary for walk participants who return in the afternoon. The nursery was founded by Kate Sessions. Food, water, music and a rest area will be available along the route. A juried plein art show is also planned with paintings for sale. Additionally, we will have our usual souvenir and information booth and art work from our own members.

Tickets may be purchased on April 1 up to May 7 from Mission Hills Nursery, Walter Anderson’s Nursery (both locations), Cedros Gardens in Solana Beach, Green in Hillcrest, Armstrong’s in Bay Park and Urban Seed in Old Town, and on this website via paypal. $25 before and $30 day of at Mission Hills Nursery only. Please consider leaving your pets at home. The event is not handicapped accessible. Strollers will be a deterrent in some locations.
