Plant-A-TreeThe San Diego Urban Tree Club, a committee of the Mission Hills Garden Club, has the goal of planting 300,000 trees by 2016. Why 300,000 trees? The city Urban Forest Community Council has found that many locations in the city need trees planted. The city has lost over 27% of its tree canopy over the past decade due to underground utilities, disease, development, and horrendous forest fires.

Our motto is “Drive a car…Plant a tree every year.”

We invite you to become involved in the tree planting effort by requesting a tree to be planted in front of your house, by helping with the committee effort to enlist others in planting trees around the city, by contacting neighbors in Mission Hills, and by helping educate our city residents about all the benefits of more trees in San Diego, and by donating at:

We look forward to hearing from many Mission Hills residents who wish to have a free tree planted on the parkway in front of their curb. Inform Mission Hills Garden Club of your interest and the “Agreement to care for a tree” will be sent to you.
